Quantum Scholars are looking for caring, reliable and experienced Primary Tutors to support primary-aged children across Somerset. We work with children and young people who may be educated other than at school, awaiting a suitable placement, or in need of additional personalised support. Tuition is usually delivered on a 1:1 basis and may take place in the child's home, in the community, or online depending on the individual referral. We are particularly interested in tutors who can provide a nurturing, flexible and child-centred approach.

The successful tutor will be able to build positive relationships with children, adapt learning to meet individual needs, and deliver engaging sessions that support confidence, progress and re‑engagement with education.

The role may involve:

  • Providing 1:1 tuition for primary-aged children
  • Planning and delivering personalised learning activities
  • Supporting core skills such as literacy, numeracy, communication and confidence
  • Using creative and interest‑led approaches to engage children in learning
  • Adapting sessions to suit each child's needs, pace and emotional readiness
  • Supporting children who may have SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety, or gaps in education
  • Working professionally with parents/carers and relevant professionals
  • Keeping brief records of session content, attendance, engagement and progress

Qualifications and experience:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children
  • A patient, nurturing and flexible approach
  • The ability to plan engaging, child‑centred learning activities
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for children
  • The legal right to work in the UK

Qualified Teacher Status would be highly desirable, particularly for referrals requiring a qualified teacher. We would also welcome applications from experienced tutors or education professionals with strong primary experience. Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS certificate and be able to provide suitable references.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide personalised support to children who need a flexible, understanding and engaging approach to learning. To apply, please send your CV to Quantum Scholars or contact us for more information.
