The school is based in Leatherhead and provides support for children aged 11-16 years with ASD and other complex or anxiety related needs who may present with challenging behaviours associated with their diagnosis. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties. All students that attend the school have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which details their specific needs in terms of the care and support they will have access to. The pupils at the school can struggle to form strong, healthy relationships and can present high levels of anxiety and challenging behaviour.

What is involved:

  • Delivering interventions
  • Plan and deliver individualised programmes of support for children to develop their emotional literacy, including:
  • Awareness of own and other people’s emotions
  • Development of an increased range of emotional vocabulary
  • Management of stress, grief, anxiety, anger and conflict
  • Development of social interaction and friendship skills
  • Promotion of a realistic self-concept and good self-esteem
  • Coping with significant life changes including loss and bereavement
  • Developing Resilience skills

What is required:

  • GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
  • ELSA/THRIVE qualification desirable, if not already got must be willing to achieve in first 2 years in post.
  • Level 5 qualification related to the subject area desirable.
  • Mental health first aid training desirable.
  • The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification, or demonstrate equivalent skill level.

Summary:

  • £27,713 - £30,250 - 40 hours per week - Term Time only - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 4.45pm. Thursday 5pm and Friday.
  • April 25 or later in the year depending on your availability.
