A highly-regarded primary school in Stafford is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and skilled Year 1 Teacher to cover a period of maternity leave commencing in September 2026. This full-time position is offered via a supply agency and is anticipated to continue for the duration of the academic year. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong, dedicated commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and learning within Key Stage 1, fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment for each and every pupil to flourish and succeed both academically and personally. This role is also OPEN to ECT's.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging and well-mapped out lesson sequences in line with both the National Curriculum and the school's policies.
  • Effectively monitor, assess and record pupil progress, and input and share data onto school systems to display pupils' progress.
  • Quickly establish and maintain high expectations of both learning and behaviour within the classroom environment.
  • Create a nurturing, positive and inclusive classroom in which every child feels safe, respected and listened to.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, support staff and most importantly the children within your classroom.

What we're looking for

  • Qualified Primary Teachers (or those due to qualify by Summer 2026).
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Feels confident in holding full class responsibilities and be able to plan and deliver engaging lessons if required during a long-term cover role.
  • Is flexible, reliable, and willing to work in different school settings.
  • Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Holds an enhanced DBS on the update service (or is willing to obtain one).
  • Can provide two recent professional references.
  • Is able to commute to a school in Stafford.
  • Is fully registered (or willing to register) with Academics.

Pay

£130 - £160 per day, depending on experience and class responsibilities. Holiday pay is included in the daily rate. Academics is committed to safe recruitment practices, as well as safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people. All applicants are expected to uphold this commitment. Placements are subject to safeguarding and child protection checks in accordance with DfE policies, including verification of the right to work, employment references, and an enhanced DBS check.
