Academics is proud to be working in partnership with a dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Hertfordshire to recruit a Spanish Language Assistant for the upcoming academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity for a fluent Spanish speaker with a passion for education and cultural exchange to play a vital role in shaping the linguistic journey of secondary students.
Working closely with the Head of MFL and the Spanish subject lead, the successful candidate will provide high-quality support to students preparing for internal and external Spanish language qualifications - including GCSE and A-Level. Your primary focus will be on improving students\' oral proficiency and confidence in spoken Spanish through engaging, one-to-one and small-group sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with teaching staff to design engaging and effective language-learning resources.
* Deliver structured 1:1 and small group sessions focused on oral language development and exam preparation.
* Support A-Level students with their individual research projects and speaking assessments.
* Infuse lessons with authentic cultural content, drawing from current events, traditions, and Spanish-speaking societies.
* Assist in tracking student progress and providing regular feedback to inform teaching strategies.
* Occasionally support with administrative and cross-faculty tasks as needed.
* Ensure all teaching aligns with the school\'s curriculum and quality standards.
* Maintain effective communication with staff, students, and where appropriate, parents and external stakeholders.
About You:
* A native or near-native Spanish speaker with a strong command of English.
* A clear understanding of GCSE and A-Level Spanish exam requirements (or a willingness to quickly familiarise yourself).
* A passionate communicator who can boost students\' confidence in spoken Spanish.
* Culturally aware and eager to share the richness of Spanish-speaking communities.
* A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
* Experience working with young people or in an educational setting is desirable, though not essential.
