Academics are recruiting on behalf of an 'Outstanding' Primary SEN School in Southampton who are looking to appoint an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join them ASAP. This is a full-time, term-time contract. If you are looking for a permanent position and get on well, they will look to take you on a temp to perm contract so please only apply if you are ultimately looking for a permanent position.

To be considered for this position you MUST have GCSE C or above in English and Maths, or level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths.

Full-time - Mon - Fri 8.45am-3.15pm

They are looking for a hardworking and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant who is able to build positive relationships with young people. Someone who can support, motivate and encourage the children with their learning and act as a positive role model. If you are looking for a rewarding and satisfying job, this role is for you.

The school caters for pupils aged 4-11 with complex learning difficulties including autism, speech and language disorders and challenging behaviours. All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The successful candidate will ideally have had experience of working with children within a school setting. Experience of using PECS, Makaton etc would be an advantage. They are looking for support staff who are compassionate, enthusiastic, reliable and resilient.

You will be supporting classes of up to 9 pupils with 1 class teacher and 3 LSAs. You will be required to support on a 1:1 and small group basis and assist with feeding and personal hygiene duties.

The school is purpose built and includes soft play rooms, multi-sensory interactive rooms and a hydrotherapy pool.
