We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and experienced Primary HLTA to join a friendly and supportive primary school in the Eastleigh area of Southampton from September 2026. This full-time HLTA position offers the opportunity to become part of a welcoming school community within Southampton, supporting children across the primary age range and helping them to achieve their full potential.
Position Details:
- Location: Eastleigh area, Southampton
- Start Date: September 2026
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:20am - 3:30pm
- Contract Type: Ongoing temporary contract with the potential to become permanent (temp-to-perm)
- Salary: Competitive rates depending on experience
The Role:
As an HLTA, you will work closely with class teachers and senior leaders to support teaching and learning across the school. Responsibilities will include delivering interventions, leading small group sessions, providing classroom support, and covering lessons in the absence of the class teacher when required. The successful HLTA will be confident supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and will play an important role in maintaining a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment within this Southampton primary school.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working as an HLTA within a primary school setting.
- A recognised HLTA qualification or relevant equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting pupils within Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
- Strong classroom management skills and confidence delivering planned lessons.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
- A passion for education and supporting children to succeed within Southampton schools.
Safeguarding Requirements:
Applicants must hold a valid enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to submit an application for a new DBS check prior to commencing employment.
