Learning Support Assistant - SEN

  • Monday – Friday, 08:30 - 15:30
  • £100 - £125 per day, depending on experience
  • Weston Super Mare – BS23
  • Long-term and full-time until the end of this academic year
  • Term time only

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about providing support to students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, ensuring that they are able to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential?

We are working in partnership with a special needs school in Uphill, to provide a learner-centered approach to pupils aged 4 to 18 with barriers to learning, including social emotional mental health needs, visual impairment, hearing impairment, speech, language and communication needs, autistic spectrum disorder and moderate learning difficulties.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant role:

  • Supporting pupils in Key Stage 1 & 2 (Primary) and Key Stage 3, 4 & 5 (Secondary) in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, as directed by the class teacher or SENCO
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of lessons, activities, and resources that are tailored to individual needs
  • Monitoring and recording progress and achievements of students, and providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers
  • Planning and delivering interventions for learners' needs in order to help them progress academically and socially
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to create a safe, inclusive, and respectful school culture

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (including youth work, PRU settings, or therapeutic support)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Available to commit to the school through to the end of the academic year (July 2025)
