We are currently recruiting for a great school in the Weston-Super-Mare area who are looking for someone to join their amazing team for the start of the new academic year. In this role as an SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be required to support children with special needs on various levels of the autistic spectrum aged 16+. This role as an SEND Teaching Assistant will be for an immediate start with the role being long term if successful following a trial.
Key skills the ideal candidate will have:
- You must be comfortable working 1:1 within an SEND role or with children in small groups
- Demonstrate active listening skills and strong verbal communication skills
- Look after children's physical, social and emotional welfare
- Handle complex and sensitive issues with empathy and understanding
- Be aware of safeguarding procedures to keep children safe at all times
Requirements:
- Experience working with young people or SEND in any capacity
- You must also have an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to process a new one
- Either live in Weston-Super-Mare or within a commutable distance
- Demonstrate fluent English, both verbal and written
