Are you experienced in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? This could be the ideal role for you.

Academics are working with a unique and nurturing specialist school based in the beautiful village of Uphill near Weston-super-Mare. The school caters for learners aged 4 to 18 who experience barriers to learning, including SEMH, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and communication difficulties. This is a school that truly celebrates its learners' achievements and wellbeing. The setting promotes self-confidence, belonging, and personal development within a learner-centred environment that goes beyond the National Curriculum.

About the role:

  • Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Promote emotional regulation, social development, and engagement in learning
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to create a safe, inclusive, and respectful school culture
  • Position available ASAP, with a commitment through to the end of the academic year (July 2025).

We’re looking for:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (including youth work, PRU settings, or therapeutic support)
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive role model who can build trust and consistency
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
