I am currently working with a fast-paced, outstanding East London based secondary school who are looking to appoint an aspiring English teacher to work as a teaching assistant. The successful applicant will be working with students of various abilities with a focus on supporting students with Literacy work. This would be a great position for an English graduate who is considering a career in teaching and would like to use the teaching assistant role as a way to gain invaluable hands-on experience.
The school are looking for a graduate who has an English related Degree and some form of paid or voluntary experience with young people. You may have gained your experience through a number of different avenues. As a teaching assistant, you will be working with students ranging from Year 7 to sixth form with a focus on Literacy support. You will be working with pupils in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
Each academic year this East London secondary school appoints a small number of graduates who are passionate about working with young people and are considering a career in teaching. A high number of these graduates then go on to do their teacher training the following year. During the year, you will also have the opportunity to work closely with various experienced teachers giving you the opportunity to observe different teaching styles and techniques.
