SEND Teacher Assistant

Are you a qualified teaching assistant looking for work?

Academics would like to welcome a SEND Teaching Assistants in the Erdington area to start as soon as possible on a long term, short term or day to day basis.

We work with a number of schools in the Birmingham where children have a range of special educational needs including ADHD, ASD, EBD, BESD, SLD, PMLD, MLD, Sensory Impairment, Dyslexia, Visual impairment and Hearing difficulties.

We will consider all applicants who have experience with levels from EYFS up to the age of 25. They will have good subject knowledge and encourage children to strive to reach their potential. TAs/LSAs will have good experience working with small groups on intervention or booster activities but also have strong 1:1 experience.

Successful SEN TA’s must have:

* Eligibility to work in the UK hold a NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

* Extensive subject knowledge
* Providing a safe and stimulating environment for children

* Good behaviour management
* Utilise resources effectively to enhance children’s attainment levels

* Team player and work well with colleagues and the classroom Teacher

* Committed to the learning and development of pupils

* Handle stressful situations patiently and calmly

You may also be required to undertake administration tasks such as handing out/collecting papers, photocopying, some light marking, putting up/taking down displays, etc.

Academics requires all staff to have a fully enhanced DBS check, minimum of two references plus a face to face interview.
