We are looking to engage qualified teachers and experienced tutors to deliver bespoke 1:1 and small group tuition to pupils across Wokingham and surrounding areas. This work is centred around supporting young people who are currently out of mainstream education, or who need additional support due to SEND and/or SEMH needs. Tuition can be delivered in person, online, or via a hybrid model, depending on the individual placement. There is a steady stream of referrals from local authorities and schools, offering ongoing and reliable opportunities. You must have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available.

This is a role that allows you to step away from traditional classroom teaching and instead focus on individual learners, delivering targeted support where it is needed most. You will:

  • Deliver tuition across core subjects (English, Maths, Science)
  • Support pupils ranging from KS1 to KS5
  • Work with students presenting with SEND, SEMH, and additional needs
  • Deliver sessions in a range of settings including homes, schools, community venues, or online

Many placements offer consistent weekly work, with some referrals running up to 5 days per week (approx. 3 hours per day). Work is typically ongoing throughout the remainder of the current academic year, with strong potential to continue long-term into the next academic year.

You’ll be supporting learners who may have experienced barriers to education. This can include:

  • SEMH, anxiety, or school avoidance
  • Autism (ASC), ADHD
  • MLD, SLD, or PMLD

A calm, flexible and relationship-led approach is essential in helping these pupils re-engage with learning.

What We’re Looking For

  • QTS / QTLS or strong relevant tutoring experience
  • Experience working within SEND or alternative provision environments
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two professional references
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding
  • Ability to travel locally within Wokingham

Why This Role?

  • Flexible working to suit your lifestyle
  • Opportunity to deliver more personalised, meaningful support
  • Ongoing opportunities and consistent referrals
  • Competitive rates, dependent on experience
