Primary SEN Teacher - Complex Needs (Full-Time, Fixed Term until July 2026)
Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher with experience supporting children with complex needs? Academics are working in partnership with a fantastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in the East Birmingham area who are seeking a Primary SEN Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis until July 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity for an enthusiastic educator who wants to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs, while being part of a warm, supportive school community.
Responsibilities
- Teach and nurture a small class of primary-aged pupils with complex learning needs.
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that promote communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to learning.
- Use a range of communication and sensory strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton, AAC) to support engagement and progress.
- Create a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment.
Qualifications
- Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
- Have experience teaching children with SEN, ideally within a special school or mainstream inclusion setting.
- Demonstrate creativity, patience, and resilience in supporting diverse learning needs.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and families to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
