We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly motivated PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team in Bedford. The successful candidate will provide essential support to students with PMLD, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment through the Education and Training setting.

Responsibilities of a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

* Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
* Assist in developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and other professionals.
* Support students with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, while ensuring their dignity and safety.
* Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment for all pupils.
* As a SEMH Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
* Use specialist equipment and resources to engage students in learning activities.
* Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development.

Requirements SEMH Teaching Assistant:

* Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD in an educational setting.
* A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students with complex needs.
* Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods is highly desirable.
* Understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding policies.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN diploma, or equivalent).
* Strong teamwork and communication skills.
* Local Commute to Bedford and the surrounding areas.
