Do you have a passion for supporting secondary school children with Learning Difficulties, including Autism, and Speech, Language & Communication needs?

Start ASAP in Bristol - BS1. Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students.

Working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 15:30pm, term time only. The pay is £90 - £100 per day, dependent on experience.

Essential experience within a challenging yet rewarding setting is ideal for aspiring Psychologists. A Secondary Classroom Assistant role is an excellent way to get your 'foot in the door' to a psychologist career, providing the opportunity to work closely and network with other teams of professionals, gaining relevant experience, and expanding your knowledge and skillset.

Career progression routes include Teacher, Special Needs Teacher, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist and various Child Psychology and Educational Psychology routes.

Job Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students
  • Behaviour and pastoral support
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with students
  • Ensure safeguarding of students
  • Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate paperwork

A great Secondary Classroom Assistant will have:

  • Enhanced DBS Check (We can assist with this)
  • Graduate in a relevant field such as psychology or criminology OR a good education background (GCSE's in Maths and English) plus prior experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students
  • Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Caring, compassionate, and a good listener
