Academics are currently working with a secondary school in the Stoke-on-Trent area who are seeking a dedicated School Caretaker to join their Site and Facilities Team on a full-time temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with maintenance, caretaking, or handyman experience who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

Role

  • General maintenance and repair tasks across the school site
  • Basic plumbing, painting, and DIY work as required
  • Setting up rooms and equipment for school events and activities
  • Conducting routine site checks and ensuring health and safety standards are maintained
  • Opening and securing school buildings as part of the shift rota
  • Supporting the wider site team with facilities management duties

Working Hours

This is a full-time position operating on a weekly rotating shift pattern:

  • 7:00am - 3:00pm
  • 8:00am - 4:00pm
  • 10:30am - 6:30pm

The role is expected to last approximately 2-3 months, with an immediate start needed.

Requirements

  • Have previous caretaking, site management, facilities, maintenance, or handyman experience
  • Ideally have previous experience working within a school environment
  • Be confident carrying out general repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Be flexible and willing to work the rotating shift pattern
  • Have a proactive and reliable approach to work
  • Ideally already have an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service
