This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a well-established SEN school in Sutton catering for pupils aged 2-19. The school supports children and young people with a wide range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and associated communication and sensory needs. You will lead a class suited to your experience across either primary, secondary, or post-16 phases, supported by skilled teaching assistants and a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver highly personalised teaching for pupils with ASD, SLD, and complex learning needs
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons with a strong focus on communication and life skills
- Use specialist approaches such as sensory-based learning, structured teaching, and communication systems (e.g. PECS, Makaton)
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to provide holistic, consistent support
- Support pupils' development in independence, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Contribute to a nurturing, inclusive environment focused on preparing pupils for adulthood
