Job Description

Reception Teacher – South Bucks – February Half Term Start

A welcoming and inclusive one-form entry primary academy in South Bucks is seeking a dedicated Reception Teacher to join their Early Years team from February half term. This role would suit a passionate practitioner ready to take on a well-supported Reception class within a nurturing school environment.

The school currently is looking to appoint a qualified Reception Teacher to provide consistency and high-quality early years provision. The class consists of 29 pupils and is an active, able year group that benefits from a large outdoor learning space, supporting continuous provision and child-led learning.

The class includes a small number of pupils with additional needs: two pupils awaiting EHCPs (one supported through outside provision), one partially sighted pupil, and one non-verbal pupil who is settled and well supported. There are two pupils requiring 1:1 support for mild behavioural needs, and there is a strong likelihood of up to three adults in the classroom, ensuring excellent support throughout the day.

The school places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and work-life balance. Staff meetings take place once a week on Mondays (4:30-5:00pm), with no additional meetings. Teachers benefit from 2.5 hours of PPA time, scheduled from 8:30am to 11:00am, allowing focused planning and assessment time.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging and effective teaching in line with the EYFS framework

Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

Support pupils with a range of learning and additional needs

Work collaboratively with support staff, colleagues, and parents

Monitor, assess, and record children's progress accurately

Prepare pupils for a smooth transition into Key Stage 1

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience within Early Years, ideally Reception

A nurturing, adaptable, and proactive teaching approach

Confidence supporting pupils with SEN and behavioural needs

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

This is a full-time role starting after February half term, offering the opportunity to join a supportive school with strong leadership, excellent facilities, and a collaborative team ethos.
