About the Role

As a Sociology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils both in the classroom and through 1:1 support. You will help students feel confident, supported, and engaged throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class and 1:1 support for pupils with ASD and other additional educational needs
  • Support pupils with their social, emotional, and academic development
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning resources
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement
  • Build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils
  • Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and positive learning environment

Requirements

  • A degree in Sociology or a related subject
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • SEN experience is beneficial
  • Experience providing 1:1 support is preferred
  • A patient, nurturing, and reliable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexible, proactive, and dependable
