The Role As a PRU Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities may include: Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs Working with primary and secondary-aged pupils Supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour Using trauma-informed approaches to build trust and positive relationships Encouraging emotional regulation and positive behaviour Helping pupils engage with learning and classroom activities Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required Working closely with teachers and other school staff Helping create a safe, calm and supportive learning environment Following individual support plans and behaviour strategies Maintaining safeguarding standards and school procedures We're Looking For as a PRU Teaching Assistant Previous experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour An understanding of trauma-informed practice Experience supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs is desirable Flexibility and confidence adapting to different situations A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning Flexible Opportunities Available The school regularly uses supply staff and offers a variety of bookings, including: Day-to-day and ad-hoc supply work Short-term placements Long-term vacancies Opportunities with varying hours to suit different availability Experience supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils Whether you're looking for occasional supply days or a more consistent long-term role, registering with Academics gives you access to opportunities that can suit your experience and preferences within Merthyr Tydfil.
