Overview
Teaching Assistant (SEN – Challenging Behaviour) – Immediate Start
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Role: Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (Term-Time, Temporary, at least 6 week assignment)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Rate: £95 – £120 per day (inclusive of holiday pay)
Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEN, particularly those with challenging behaviour, through de-escalation and structured strategies to promote positive engagement and learning.
- Focus on building trust, implementing consistent behaviour management approaches, and contributing to a calm and inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with school staff to support personalised learning goals within a primary school setting.
- Utilise trauma-informed practice and SEN strategies as part of ongoing professional development.
What we are looking for / Qualifications
- A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Proven experience supporting children with SEN, particularly challenging behaviour, in a school or similar setting.
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies, de-escalation techniques, and support for ASD/SEMH.
- A calm, consistent and resilient approach, with the ability to build trust and encourage positive behaviour.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply quickly).
