Are you interested in supporting children with Special Educational Needs? Would you like to build your experience working with Complex Needs and work alongside SEN teachers? Academics are supporting a specialist school for children with profound severe and complex learning difficulties, based in Portsmouth, looking for bright and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants available to start ASAP or from September 2026!

The school has 3 sites for pupils aged 2 to 19 years, and they need support for children with co-occurring needs including behaviour and mental health issues, autistic spectrum condition, severe physical disabilities, and highly complex medical conditions.

Due to the complex needs of the students within the schools, ideally, you will have relevant, recent experience or qualifications. We will consider candidates qualified in Psychology, Counselling, or Criminology, but other subjects will also be considered.

The schools are across Portsmouth and are looking to fill vacancies for full-time Teaching Assistants starting ASAP. The SEN children are aged 2 to 19 and require consistent, ongoing support to ensure they have the highest quality of care and child-centred support.

The School is looking for SEN Teaching Assistants who can bring enthusiasm, passion, and experience to the classroom. They are looking for SEN TAs who will be proactive and adaptable and be able to use their own initiative. Resilience and confidence to work with challenging behaviour is desirable!
