Academics are seeking an empathetic, passionate and hard-working Senior Teaching Assistant to carry out a full-time, temp to perm contract in a secondary school in Lymington/New Forest. As a Senior Teaching Assistant, you will be required to work in the school's Alternative Provision with students who are at risk of exclusion, and students looking to go through the EHCP process.
The Alternative Provision which is set on the school site caters for up to 10 pupils, 5 to each class. The classrooms follow a nurture model. They have separate booths for pupils to work from, as well as desks and sofas which create a calm, inviting environment.
The purpose for 50% of pupils is to transition them back into the main classroom full-time, whereas the other 50% will go through the EHCP process, where you will be required to support in documenting evidence and putting together education plans for the pupils which will include online learning.
The suitable Senior Teaching Assistant will be able to support secondary aged pupils with their lessons, predominantly core subjects so you must have a C/4 or above in Maths and English. You will also be someone who is calm, nurturing and good at building positive relationships with pupils, especially those with complex needs.
This is a full-time position starting ASAP, working 8.30am - 4pm. The role pays in line with HLTA banding which is between £25,000 - £36,500 FTE / £18,269 - £26,673 TT. Whilst on supply, the daily rate will vary between £95 - £137, dependent on experience.
Due to the location in Lymington/New Forest, this role is ideally suited to a driver, or someone who lives locally. Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
