Academics are currently recruiting a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work with a pupil in a Primary School in the Dinas Powys area. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced LSA who has a strong background supporting children with ALN and behavioural needs. The role is due to start as soon as possible and is a long-term position, working 3 days per week.

The Role

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day
  • Supporting a child with ALN and behavioural needs
  • Helping the pupil access classroom learning and activities
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
  • Supporting social and emotional development
  • Adapting activities and approaches to meet the pupil's individual needs
  • Following individual support plans and behaviour strategies
  • Maintaining a calm, positive and nurturing environment
  • Following safeguarding and school policies at all times

We're Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting children with ALN/SEN
  • Strong experience supporting children with behavioural needs
  • Previous experience working in a primary school setting
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Availability to work 3 days per week
  • A commitment to a long-term role in the Dinas Powys area

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS/EWC registration
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Relevant safeguarding and compliance checks
  • Right to work in the UK
