We are seeking a dedicated professional to deliver engaging PE and outdoor Education instructor to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities in the education ands training sector in Bedford. PE and Outdoor Education Instructor / Teacher of PE

Start Date: Autumn Term 2025

Sector: Education and Training

Location: Bedford

Salary (Instructor): £31,586 – £34,314 FTE (Pay award pending)

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only + 5 INSET days

Salary: In line with the National Teachers' Pay Scales

What We're Looking For:

  • A relevant degree or teaching qualification (QTS is required for the Teacher of PE route)
  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an SEN, PRU, or inclusive setting
  • A solid understanding of inclusive PE practice, behaviour management, and trauma-informed support
  • A flexible, proactive approach with a genuine passion for physical activity and holistic development
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Ability to commute to Bedford

About the Role:

  • As our PE and Outdoor Education Instructor / Teacher of PE, you will:
  • Deliver accessible and inclusive PE lessons and outdoor learning experiences to pupils aged 7-16
  • Support pupils in achieving progress relative to their individual starting points, both physically and socially
  • Plan safe, creative sessions that promote teamwork, self-confidence, physical literacy, and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with classroom staff and therapists to integrate physical learning with wider personal development goals
  • Monitor and track pupils' progress, adapting activities to suit diverse needs and abilities
