Quantum Scholars is currently seeking compassionate, adaptable, and engaging Outreach Tutors to deliver tailored 1:1 support for pupils accessing alternative provision across Wokingham and the wider Berkshire area. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people by helping them overcome barriers to learning, rebuild confidence, and positively re‑engage with education.
We welcome applications from experienced tutors, teachers, intervention specialists, learning mentors, SEN professionals, youth workers, pastoral staff, HLTAs, TAs, and individuals with experience supporting children and young people with additional needs.
About the Role
You will provide personalised 1:1 outreach tuition and intervention support to primary and secondary‑aged pupils who are currently unable to access mainstream education. Many of the learners we support may have needs relating to:
- SEND
- Autism (ASC)
- ADHD
- SEMH needs
- Behavioural challenges
- School refusal and anxiety
- Medical needs
Sessions take place during school hours and are delivered either within the pupil's home or in suitable community settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 outreach sessions
- Support pupils academically, emotionally, and socially
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Help students improve confidence, engagement, and learning outcomes
- Adapt resources and teaching approaches to suit individual needs
- Support core subjects including English and Maths
- Promote consistency, structure, and positive routines

What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND or additional needs
- Strong behaviour management and relationship‑building skills
- A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Previous experience in tutoring, mentoring, teaching, youth work, intervention, or pastoral support
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Full Right to Work in the UK
- Ability to travel for in‑person sessions across Wokingham and surrounding areas
- QTS and formal teaching qualifications are desirable but not essential for all opportunities.
- A degree in a relevant subject area is advantageous.
