A fantastic Secondary SEN School in Newbury is looking for a caring, patient, and motivated ASD Assistant to join their team. This role would suit graduates, aspiring teachers, Psychology graduates, those with experience working with young people, or anyone looking to build a career supporting children and young people with Autism and additional needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional needs.
- Support students with their learning, communication, behaviour, and emotional development.
- Assist students with classroom activities and encourage active participation.
- Support small groups with activities both inside and outside the classroom.
- Help students develop communication, social, and independence skills.
- Use appropriate strategies to support students with sensory needs and emotional regulation.
- Gain valuable hands‑on experience within a specialist SEN and Autism setting.
- Develop practical skills in Autism support, communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation.
- Excellent experience for Psychology, Criminology, and Education graduates considering careers in education, psychology, therapy, or related fields.
- Work alongside experienced teachers and SEN professionals.
- Develop valuable experience supporting young people with complex and additional needs.
- Full‑time position with an ASAP start.
Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
