Academics is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in South Leeds that is looking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant - SEND Support to join their team from September. This is a long term position expected to last at least 2 terms, supporting targeted SEND pupils across both key stage 1 and key stage 2. This school has a supportive leadership team and is committed to providing the best outcomes for every child.
The Role
- Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities across key stage 1 and key stage 2
- Work closely with class teachers and SENDCo to deliver targeted interventions
- Build positive relationships that help pupils develop confidence, independence, and engagement in learning
- Adapt supportive strategies to meet individual learning needs and promote pupil progress
To be considered for this Teaching Assistant role, you must:
- Have previous experience supporting children with SEND within a primary school setting
- Have experience working with pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, lower ability, EAL, SEMH
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to apply for one
- Have excellent communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach
- Be committed to making a positive difference to the lives of children with additional needs
