The job role as a SENDCo requires leading a key role in high-quality SEND provision to ensure personalised support to learning for each student.

Responsibilities

As a SENDCo in Milton Keynes, you will have a pivotal role in shaping and leading the school's SEND provision. You will be responsible for the strategic development, coordination, and continuous improvement of support for pupils with additional needs. This includes overseeing the implementation and regular review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), while working collaboratively with teaching staff, families, and external professionals to ensure a cohesive, multi-agency approach. You will also guide and support teachers in delivering high-quality adaptive teaching, ensuring that provision is fully aligned with the SEND Code of Practice, the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework, and the national priorities outlined in the Every Child Achieving and Thriving schools white paper.

Qualifications
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has proven experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally within an inclusive or specialist setting
  • Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or NPQ for SEND (or is willing to work towards it)
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
  • Is deeply committed to inclusive education and improving outcomes for pupils with complex needs
