We are currently seeking a full‑time SEMH Specialist Learning Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil in a mainstream primary school in Rochester, Kent. This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, who can offer consistent, patient, and structured support to help the pupil engage positively with learning and school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's SEMH needs
  • Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
  • Assisting the pupil to access the curriculum within a mainstream classroom
  • Implementing behaviour and support strategies as directed by the SENCO
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
  • Working closely with teaching staff and external professionals

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs (essential)
  • Experience working 1:1 in a primary school or similar setting
  • Calm, resilient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
