Academics Ltd is a trusted partner to Kent County Council, providing experienced SEND Tuition support to Children and Young People (CYP) across Kent. We are currently recruiting for dedicated and experienced professionals for SEND Tutor jobs in Kent, delivering personalised 1:1 home tuition to learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role is ideal for qualified teachers and experienced SEND specialists seeking flexible, meaningful work.

As a SEND Tutor, you will deliver between 10-20 hours of tuition per week as part of a young person's EHCP or care package, often working within the family home and closely alongside parents and multi-agency professionals.

The SEND Tutor Role

  • Deliver structured 1:1 SEND tuition in Kent (typically home-based provision)
  • Support CYP with EHCPs and complex additional needs
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning goals
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and parents
  • Provide progress reports in line with Kent County Council requirements

Many of our SEND Tutor placements involve supporting learners with:

  • Autism (ASD)
  • ADHD
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
  • Anxiety and EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
  • Moderate learning difficulties

SEND Tutor Requirements

  • QTS / QTLS (strongly preferred) OR substantial experience working as a SEND Tutor or supporting children with SEND
  • Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or alternative provision
  • Strong behaviour management and differentiation skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
