Academics are currently recruiting for a reliable and experienced School Caretaker to join a welcoming secondary school in Sittingbourne. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on individual with previous caretaking, premises or facilities experience, looking for a full-time, Monday to Friday position.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and securing the school site.
- Carrying out daily site inspections and security checks.
- Undertaking general maintenance and minor repairs.
- Ensuring the school buildings and grounds remain safe, clean and well maintained.
- Setting up rooms and areas for school activities and events.
- Liaising with contractors and reporting any maintenance issues.
- Monitoring health and safety across the site.
- Supporting with general premises and facilities duties.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience in caretaking, premises or facilities management.
- Good practical skills and general maintenance knowledge.
- A proactive, reliable and hands-on approach.
- A good understanding of health and safety.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service OR be willing to pay for and obtain a new Enhanced DBS.
- A commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe environment for pupils and staff.
