Academics are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded primary school in Luton for a British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a long-term opportunity supporting pupils with hearing impairments in a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for education and a strong commitment to supporting young learners with additional needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils access the curriculum, working closely with teaching staff across Early Years, KS1, and KS2. Role: BSL Teaching Assistant Phase: Primary Qualification: BSL Level 1 to level 6 Pay: £95 to £120 depending on experience Responsibilities: Supporting pupils with hearing impairments to access learning and reach their full potential Communicating effectively using British Sign Language Assisting the class teacher with the planning and delivery of engaging and age-appropriate lessons Providing feedback on pupil progress and identifying areas for development Promoting a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment Supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom where requiredRequirements: Minimum Level 1 qualification in British Sign Language Previous experience working with children with hearing impairments is highly desirable Passionate about primary education and supporting young learners Strong communication skills in both BSL and spoken/written English Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Confident building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parentsThis is a full-time role with an immediate or upcoming start.
