Are you passionate about supporting young people to succeed? An ambitious secondary school in West London is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join its pastoral and inclusion team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people by providing targeted behavioural, emotional, and academic support.
Location: West London
Salary: £95-£135 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: September start available in West London
The successful candidate will work closely with students who may face barriers to learning, including those with SEMH needs, ADHD, Autism, challenging behaviour, low attendance, or social and emotional difficulties. You will play a vital role in helping students develop positive behaviours, improve engagement and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one mentoring and small-group interventions for students requiring additional behavioural and pastoral support.
- Build positive, professional relationships that promote confidence, resilience, and self-esteem.
- Support students in developing strategies to manage behaviour, emotions, and engagement with learning.
- Work alongside teachers, SEND staff, pastoral leaders, safeguarding teams, and external agencies to support student progress.
- Monitor and record behavioural, attendance, and wellbeing outcomes.
- Support students both within lessons and during unstructured times throughout the school day.
- Contribute to behaviour support plans, risk assessments, and intervention programmes.
- Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Skills required:
- Experience working with young people in a school, mentoring, youth work, coaching, care, or community setting.
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- The confidence to work with students presenting challenging behaviour.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, SEND, or vulnerable learners would be highly advantageous.
- A degree or relevant qualification is desirable but not essential.
