Academics are currently working with a primary school in Redbridge who are looking to recruit a dedicated Autism Support Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a mainstream primary setting, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated learning needs. The school is looking for someone who can build positive relationships with children, understand their individual needs and help them feel settled, supported and ready to learn. As an Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils access the curriculum, develop their social skills and manage their emotional regulation. You may also use strategies such as visual timetables, PECS, Makaton and sensory activities to support communication, engagement and independence. The ideal candidate will: Have previous experience supporting children with Autism and/or additional SEND needs. Be patient, compassionate and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting children. Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Be confident supporting social interaction, communication and emotional regulation. Be able to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals.
