Academics, a leading education supply agency, are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a lovely, supportive village school in the Spen Valley. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced LSA, Teaching Assistant or individual with relevant care experience to make a real difference to a child's educational and personal development.

The successful candidate will work as part of a 2:1 support team, providing consistent, nurturing and individualised support to a child with a range of educational and physical needs. The role will involve:

  • Providing dedicated 2:1 support throughout the school day
  • Supporting the child with their learning, communication and engagement
  • Assisting with personal care and physical needs where required
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
  • Helping the child to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships
  • Following individual care, learning and support plans
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs
  • A caring, patient and nurturing approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively
  • Experience supporting children with complex educational or physical needs
  • Experience with PEG feeding and/or colostomy care would be highly advantageous
  • A full driving licence would be advantageous
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children

You don't necessarily need to have experience in every aspect of the role - the right attitude, compassion and willingness to learn are just as important.
