We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive primary school team on a fixed-term contract from September 2026 until December 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils during a key stage of their primary education as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. The successful candidate will work closely with the Year 6 teaching team to support learning, raise attainment and help pupils achieve their full potential.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working with primary-aged children, ideally within Upper Key Stage 2.
- Is passionate about supporting children's learning and development.
- Can work effectively with individuals, small groups and whole classes.
- Has strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Is able to support pupils in preparation for end-of-Key Stage 2 assessments.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is organised, proactive and able to work as part of a team.
- Has high expectations of pupil achievement, behaviour and wellbeing.
The role will include:
- Supporting teaching and learning within the Year 6 classroom.
- Delivering targeted interventions and small-group support.
- Assisting pupils with literacy, numeracy and curriculum learning.
- Supporting pupils' confidence, independence and engagement.
- Preparing learning resources and classroom materials.
- Working closely with the class teacher and wider school staff to support pupil progress.
- Contributing positively to the wider life of the school.
