We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Caerphilly. This role is ideal for a Level 4 or 5 qualified Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting learning across the school and covering PPA time when required. You will work both as a classroom Teaching Assistant and step into a HLTA role to lead learning in the absence of the class teacher across both KS1 and KS2.
Requirements
- Level 4 or Level 5 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Experience working within a primary school setting
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Flexibility and confidence to work across different classes
Key Responsibilities
As a Teaching Assistant (TA):
- Support pupils' learning in line with the teacher's planning
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning
- Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of resources
- Provide support for pupils with additional learning needs
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement
- Help monitor and record pupil progress
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA):
- Deliver planned lessons during PPA cover across different classes
- Manage the classroom independently in the teacher's absence
- Adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of all learners
- Assess, record, and report on pupil progress during cover sessions
- Support curriculum delivery across a range of subjects and key stages
- Provide feedback to teachers on pupil performance and behaviour
