Are you passionate about championing children with additional needs, such as Autism, and Speech, Language & Communication needs? This specialist school based in Haywards Heath is looking for a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to support children aged 4-17 with mild to severe learning difficulties.
This role in Haywards Heath will give you essential experience within a challenging yet rewarding setting. Career progression routes include SEN Teacher, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist and various Child Psychology and Educational Psychology routes.
A common feature for many children and young people with special educational needs is marginalisation and disadvantage, trauma, dysfunctional family relationships, low educational attainment and stigmatisation. Subsequently, they face many barriers in life and are more at risk of negative outcomes. With this Special Needs Teaching Assistant role in Haywards Heath, you will be instrumental in providing consistency, and equipping children and young people with tools to ensure they feel safe, secure, empowered, and believe that they can succeed in life.
Job Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students
- Behaviour and pastoral support
- Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students
- Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Caring, compassionate, and a good listener
- Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students
- Ensure safeguarding of students
- Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD
- Able to commute to Haywards Heath
Start date ASAP, trial days taking place to ensure the role and school is right for you. Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students. Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, term time only. £77-85 per day. You MUST have right to work in the UK in order to apply - no Visa sponsorship.
