Academics have an urgent need for a School Caretaker to carry out a full-time contract in a large SEN Secondary school in Basingstoke. This is to start on Monday 14th April for a minimum of 4 weeks. Working hours are from 7am – 3pm, paying between £90-£100 per day.
You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and secure school environment, encompassing duties including security, minor repairs, grounds-keeping, and assisting with school events.
Core Responsibilities as a School Caretaker:- Opening and closing the school building and grounds.
- Monitoring access to the premises and ensuring security.
- Checking for damage or security issues upon arrival and throughout the day.
- Ensuring all doors, windows, and gates are locked securely.
- Responding to alarm activations and other security concerns.
- Performing routine maintenance tasks, including minor repairs to fixtures and fittings.
- Ensuring the school facilities are in good working order, including boilers and utility supplies.
- Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
- Liaising with external contractors for larger repairs and maintenance projects.
- Maintaining cleanliness in classrooms, hallways, offices, toilets, and other areas within the school.
- Taking care of the school grounds, including lawn maintenance, gardening, and clearing leaves or snow.
- Ensuring grounds are litter-free.
- Emptying outside bins.
- Assisting with setting up and organising spaces for school events, such as furniture and audiovisual equipment.
- Arranging chairs and tables for meetings and clearing them away afterwards.
