Are you an experienced SEMH Teacher looking for a role which combines teaching and leadership? Academics have an exciting opportunity for a passionate SEMH Teacher to join a brand new Alternative Provision in Southampton, starting in September.

This lead role is open to both qualified and unqualified teachers. What is important is that you come with experience of working in an SEMH setting and love working with children with social, emotional and mental health needs, and other associated needs.

This is a rare opportunity to help build a new Alternative Provision where you will be given the autonomy to create exciting learning experiences and help young people re-engage with education. The provision will support Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).

As the SEMH Lead Teacher, you will be at the heart of the provision. You will lead teaching and learning, help develop the curriculum and work closely with colleagues, families and professionals to ensure pupils receive the personalised support they need.

This role would suit someone who is ready to take the next step in their career and wants the opportunity to establish an outstanding provision. It will be 'all hands on deck' so the suitable person will be required to teach, as well as lead the provision.

  • Has experience working with children with SEN and/or SEMH needs, ideally within an AP or SEN school
  • Builds strong, positive relationships with pupils and families
  • Has excellent behaviour management and communication skills
  • Experience teaching within a specialist SEN school, alternative provision or inclusion setting
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND legislation

You will receive a competitive salary (M3-M6) plus SEN Allowance.

If you are an experienced SEMH Teacher/Leader and would like to be considered for this amazing opportunity, please apply by sending a copy of your up to date CV.
