We are seeking an outstanding graduate to gain experience before pursuing a career as a Speech and Language Therapist. The role is based in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Halesowen, working as a SEN Learning Support Assistant for the remainder of the academic year. You will support a small class, collaborate with teaching and support staff, and deliver specific interventions to boost students' language acquisition.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside qualified Speech and Language Therapists (SALT) and deliver interventions to children with speech, language and communication needs, both in small groups and 1:1. This role provides hands-on experience to support your future career as a Speech and Language Therapist.
Responsibilities- Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students
- Behaviour and pastoral support
- Build robust and effective relationships with students
- Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Caring, compassionate, and a good listener
- Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students
- Ensure safeguarding of students
- Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD
- GCSE in English and Maths
- A psychology, criminology or social science degree is advantageous
- Right to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship
- Start date: ASAP
- Hours: Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, term time only
- Pay: £88.94–£100 per day, PAYE
- On-site training, support and CPD provided to ensure safeguarding of all students
- No previous experience required
