This role is aimed at an enthusiastic, empathetic Psychology Graduate who wants to initiate restorative practices to assist a wide array of Autistic students, ranging from high functioning to non‑verbal. The school has not had a permanent exclusion for over 12 months and is committed to ensuring no student is left behind pastorally or academically.
The Specialist Provision in Ascot offers a state‑of‑the‑art Complex Needs Environment where you will have the opportunity to shadow specialised staff such as speech and language therapists, clinical psychologists, and other professionals. Many of the students have experienced severe trauma and have varying relationships with their parents, making diversity of therapies essential. Restorative practice, pragmatism, and positive reinforcement will be key skills in this support role. Successful graduates will specialise in working with students who have complex spectrum‑based needs. The students you will be raising attainment with are between the ages of 5–16, all have EHCPs and will need to continue their education once they leave the school.
Responsibilities
- Provide restorative practices in 1:1 and small group settings
- Implement intensive interventions and support as part of a wider class with an LSA
- Work with students with autism and mental health needs
- Collaborate with speech and language therapists, clinical psychologists, and other specialists
- Support students' pastoral and academic progress to ensure no exclusion
Qualifications
- Recent Psychology graduate or similar subject (similar subjects considered)
- Strong interest in working with complex needs and autistic students
- Empathy, commitment to restorative practice, and ability to work in diverse team environments
