Quantum Scholars are looking for caring, reliable and experienced Secondary Tutors to support secondary‑aged children and young people in and around Frome, Somerset. We work with pupils who may be educated other than at school, awaiting a suitable placement, or in need of additional personalised support. Tuition is usually delivered on a 1:1 basis and may take place in the young person’s home, in the community, or online depending on the individual referral.
We are particularly interested in tutors who can provide a calm, flexible and young‑person‑centred approach, building positive relationships, adapting learning to meet individual needs, and delivering engaging sessions that support confidence, progress and re‑engagement with education.
Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 tuition for secondary‑aged pupils in and around Frome
- Plan and deliver personalised learning activities
- Support core academic skills, subject knowledge and confidence
- Help pupils re‑engage with education at a pace that is right for them
- Use creative and interest‑led approaches to support motivation
- Adapt sessions to suit each young person’s needs, ability and emotional readiness
- Support pupils who may have SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety, EBSA, or gaps in education
- Work professionally with parents/carers and relevant professionals
- Keep brief records of session content, attendance, engagement and progress
- Experience working with secondary‑aged pupils
- Strong subject knowledge in one or more secondary curriculum areas
- A patient, encouraging and flexible approach
- The ability to plan engaging, personalised learning sessions
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for young people
- The legal right to work in the UK
- Qualified Teacher Status is highly desirable, particularly for referrals requiring a qualified teacher
- Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS certificate and be able to provide suitable references.
