A well-established secondary school in West London is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to join its school estates and premises team on a full-time, long-term basis.

This Facilities Manager role is ideal for candidates with experience in school site management, premises management, estates management, building maintenance, or facilities operations within schools, colleges, academies, or large commercial environments. The school is looking for a proactive and organised candidate who can oversee the smooth running of the school site, ensure health and safety compliance, manage contractors, and support the maintenance and security of the school buildings and grounds. This is an excellent opportunity for a School Facilities Manager, Premises Manager, Site Manager, Estates Manager, Caretaking Manager, or Facilities Supervisor seeking a long-term role within education in West London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the daily operation of the school buildings, grounds, and facilities
  • Supporting the leadership of the premises and site team
  • Supervising caretakers, cleaners, and external contractors
  • Ensuring the school site remains safe, secure, and fully compliant
  • Managing planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance
  • Overseeing building repairs, maintenance schedules, and site inspections
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations within the school
  • Monitoring fire safety systems, alarms, CCTV, access control, and security procedures
  • Supporting emergency procedures and school evacuation processes
  • Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and facilities service providers
  • Maintaining records relating to compliance, maintenance, and statutory checks
  • Supporting school lettings and community use of facilities
  • Managing waste disposal, recycling, and environmental initiatives
  • Assisting with premises improvement projects and estates development

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in facilities management, premises management, estates management, or school site management
  • Experience working within a school, academy, college, university, or educational setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety compliance and building maintenance
  • Experience managing contractors and site services
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and school operational procedures
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
  • Residence within or ability to travel to West London
