Academics is currently looking for experienced EYFS Teaching Assistants for day-to-day and short-term opportunities within our partnership nurseries and primary schools. Working across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire can be diversified, meaning that we work with an assortment of primary schools and that we have different requirements to suit. We are proud to say that here at Academics we have had a strong record of placing many of our Teaching Assistants into permanent work following a successful period of long-term supply within our nurseries and primary schools.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside teachers and fellow practitioners to deliver fun EYFS-appropriate sessions and activities.
  • Managing challenging behaviour and engaging learners with their own learning.
  • Encourage independence, positive behaviour, and social interaction.
  • Working with learners either 1-2-1 or in small groups.
  • Committed to supporting both the teacher and the students to succeed.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience of working with children in a nursery or primary school setting (in the UK).
  • A minimum Level 2 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum.
  • Confident communication skills and to be an excellent motivator in the room (1-2-1 or small group support).
  • Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to support learners.
  • A good level of literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 or Grade C and above/Functional Skills Level 2 in the minimum required).
  • Paediatric First Aid (or willing to work towards).
  • A current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or prepared to apply for a new DBS with us (cost applied).
