Role Purpose
To support KS3 and KS4 pupils who are unable to attend mainstream education due to medical or SEMH needs. The role focuses on delivering personalised, trauma-informed support to enable successful reintegration into education. Work may take place in the home, public spaces, school, or specialist settings. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide face-to-face mentoring and reintegration support
- Deliver home-based sessions, progressing to community and school settings
- Apply trauma-informed and restorative approaches
- Develop Harm Reduction Plans and Therapeutic Thinking Risk Calculators
- Lead multi-agency meetings and maintain accurate digital records (e.g. MyConcern, Arbor)
- Act as the main contact for parents/carers
- Support pupils in line with individual needs and EHCPs
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH and/or medical needs
- Experience in SEND or alternative provision
- Strong safeguarding knowledge (KCSIE)
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- High emotional intelligence, resilience, and empathy
- Competence with MIS systems
