Are you a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant with experience supporting children with special educational needs? We are currently seeking an experienced SEND LSA to support non-verbal children with autism in a welcoming school environment in Witham.
Position: Experienced SEND LSA
Location: Witham, Essex
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30-3:30
Salary: £92-£110 per day
About the Role:
- As a SEND LSA, you will be working closely with a non-verbal child with autism to support their learning and personal development.
- You will assist with communication, emotional regulation, and engaging them in classroom activities, ensuring they receive the tailored support they need to succeed.
- The ideal SEND LSA will have a calm, patient, and nurturing approach, with the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support a child with non-verbal autism in the classroom on a one-to-one basis.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual learning plans.
- Support with communication strategies and help the child engage in learning activities.
- Promote the child's social, emotional, and personal development.
- Work alongside the class teacher to ensure the child's needs are met.
- Build positive relationships with the child, their family, and the school team.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with autism and special educational needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children with SEND.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
- Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent are desirable.
