Are you wanting to make a difference for children and young people with Special Needs? This specialist primary and secondary school in Esher is looking for compassionate and dedicated Aspiring Child Counsellor/Special Needs Teaching Assistant's (SEN TA) to join the team. The school supports children and young people aged 7-17 (Years 3-12) who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and/or Autism Spectrum conditions. These pupils may have experienced disrupted education, school refusal, anxiety or exclusion, find mainstream setting overwhelming, need small groups, high adult consistency and trusted relationships to succeed.

With this role in Esher, you will have the chance to work closely aside and network with a range of professionals, such as Therapists and Counsellors. Job role and responsibilities for an Aspiring Child Counsellor/SEN TA:

  • Assist the class teacher with the learning experience
  • Provide dedicated support to pupils with learning, physical, sensory, or behavioural challenges
  • Ability to build trusted and effective relationships with the pupils
  • Willing to do 1:1 and small group support and work with pupils
  • Follow the safeguarding guidelines and implement them in the classroom
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a good listener with a compassionate and caring approach
  • Needs to attend staff meetings and complete relevant CPD
  • Able to commute to Esher

Start date: September, trial days taking place to ensure the role and school is right for you.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, term time only.

Salary: £93-£105 per day.
