English Teaching Assistant – PRU (Pupil Referral Unit), Finchley

We are looking for a dedicated English Teaching Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Finchley. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need extra support to thrive academically and personally.

The Role:

* Supporting students who have been excluded from mainstream schools or struggle with social, emotional, or behavioural challenges
* Assisting in delivering engaging English lessons tailored to individual learning needs
* Working closely with students in small groups or on a 1:1 basis to improve literacy, writing skills, and confidence
* Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement through a patient and supportive approach
* Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement personalised learning plans
* Helping to create a safe, structured, and encouraging learning environment

Requirements:

* A strong background in English (Degree, A-Level, or equivalent experience)
* Experience working with young people who have SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs or challenging behaviour (desirable)
* Resilience, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with students
* A proactive, flexible, and empathetic approach to supporting learning
* Experience in an alternative provision, PRU, or SEN setting (preferred but not essential)
